Product Description

Crape Myrtle, Sioux

Tough, tenacious, terrific, and the bearer of tremendously beautiful rose-pink summer blossoms, the Sioux Crape Myrtle is a long-time favorite as a reliable ornamental specimen…

What distinguishes the lovely Sioux Crape Myrtle?

  • Gorgeous vivid pink flowers with a continuous blooming cycle throughout the summer.

  • Vibrant fall colors

  • Exfoliating bark with an attractive marbled look.

  • Commendable resilience to diseases, pests, and extreme weather conditions.

  • Heat and drought tolerant.

  • Modest size, making it ideal for small yards and lawns.

Keeping up appearances…

Unfurling its branches in a vase-shaped structure, the lovely Sioux Crape Myrtle typically doesn’t grow over 13-20 ft., making it an ideal specimen for limited spaces. This tree’s dense green foliage is punctuated in the summer by gorgeous coral-pink blossoms that begin blooming in June and continue to flourish until autumn. The Sioux Crape Myrtle’s fall pigments tend to showcase shades of mauve, scarlet, and reddish-purple, maintaining this tree’s aesthetic appeal and providing your landscape with glowing vibrancy. Even its bark is intriguing; the older layer is exfoliated and gives way to the lighter-hued bark beneath it, with the interwoven beige-brown layers providing the Sioux Crape Myrtle’s trunk with a beautiful marbled appearance.

A friendly recommendation.

Heralded as one of the toughest varieties available, the hardy Sioux Crape Myrtle can withstand freezing temperatures, dry spells, mildew, urban conditions, and heat. It also is wonderfully resilient against pests and diseases. The Sioux Crape Myrtle may be cultivated as a sole-trunk accent tree or as a multi-stemmed shrub; if planted in rows, its lush foliage lends itself to the creation of a reliable “living wall” that provides great privacy. With a 7-9 hardiness zone rating, this specimen thrives in full sun to partial shade and favors moist, well-drained soil.

Awesome tree trivia!

  • Lagerstromia Indica Sioux grows quickly, scaling up 3-5 feet per year on average.
  • The flowering Sioux Crape Myrtle’s resilience means that it can thrive even under heavy layers of ice and snow.
